Let's Get Married

When things seem so surreal. You don't know whether to turn around or keep stepping into the unknown. Like a splinter I feel pounded with force in the most secure piece of wood on the tree of life. The pressure and expectations of being a strong and bold figure sometimes feels like I snap at the ends. But the tree of life keeps me grounded and assures me that this is where I need to be. My friends are the leaves, my family are the branches, the trunk is my hubby to be and the little squirrel that jumps and bounces around is the little bundle of joy that we have not introduced ourselves to. In time she will grow to know us. The nest week is going to be so defining. Not that any other day of our lives will be either. The last week of being Miss Megan Elizabeth McKee will then be changed forever. Extremely terrifying and so extremely happy. I've been so poised in my time leading up to the wedding. The calmest I've been a very long time. Strange? YES! Everyone around me has said it, and that's just to show how much support the beautiful people in my life has given me. Incredible. Gratitude fills my heart. There's not enough thanks in the world that I could give to the people who have helped us plan this wedding. Who knows what will bring in the coming week. What challenges will arise. Who will arrive and when they arrive. So much to look forward to. So much more to do. Every single day there is something to do. But every single day I feel amazed and the feeling of bliss just fills my body. Let the dreams roll and love flow. Today is for today and tomorrow is the for the rest of my life. Exciting? YES! Bring it on!

Photograph

They say an image can express more than a thousand words. There's moments in life that are captured by the beauty and innocent essence of a photograph, it doesn't say much to some but it says everything to another. Just like a painting with blue swirls and finger prints, to some they see blue swirls and finger prints to someone else it's the story of a five year old's first day at school and how the treasure hunt felt like it went round and round the school like swirls in the clouds. Moments come and memories fade and we know they don't last forever in our hands. Sometimes we pray for a better ending, or for a moment to stop time so we can live in the happiest of times in our lives. Still moments. Happy memories. Laughable faces. Priceless moments. The good times. The mournful eras. The wonderful changes. Indescribable feelings. As the years go by and the months sail through, the weeks are almost here. The days are yet to become hours, and hours to minutes, until the seconds become merely a hide and seek tradition. Here we are stuck in this moment, for us its the clock of weeks. 1, 2, 3, 4. The bumpy road of an endless battle. 5. A whirlwind of emotion drifted through the lives of everyone around me. 6. A decision that left a fork in the road though I wouldn't know where I'd be now if I took the slight left instead of right. 7. The flowers turned from pink to royal blue. A childhood fantasy no longer in mind. I was actually living the dream but instead of riding a soft white cloud I managed to jump on the nearest bus to the Land of Oz. 8. A blurred image that defined the dimples around our cheeks. 9. Everything seemed to look like a potato, and it was nice. 10, 11, 12. The stretch to no longer keep the key to the most sacred secret box I've ever owned. 13. No matter how much of a fairy tale life you thought you had, there was always something to remind you it's not all sweet and rosy. At some point I felt like Dorothy, wanting to go back home, somewhere familiar and close to my family. So I did. For three weeks I bunked up with Roxette 'Roxy' McKee. Chiwawa cross Fox Terrier. Mutt and best friend. She kept me company the three weeks my parents were on holidays. She snuggled, I fed her gourmet meals. She protected the house, I gave her my heart. House sitting in the bush was so calming and relaxing. From beautiful glass lit mornings with glowing green foliage to deep blue nights and silence. Pure magic. 14, 15, 16. And now 17 - things are changing. Heart beats faster. I notice, you notice. The things you notice are so weird and strange. But otherwise so magical and surreal. Too many forks in this road for me to even begin choosing right now, but I know the path I've taken so far is where I want to be. Many a time I've found myself in a dead end corner or on a road leading to catastrophe. And every time I come out wiser and stronger. Each and every time. You begin to notice the constant faces around every path you take and some that tend to fade as you choose different rights and lefts from them. Some signs always point you back to the same faces and other signs just redirect you, I guess these are the moments where you have to let go of familiar fading faces. Never goodbye, just farewell for now. When the light blemishes your vision you've gone a little too far, and same with the dark patches of the night. 17 is the number for my personal moment in time. A moment that I will cherish for the rest of my life. Whatever number you are or moment you're living right this second, believe it is at your best. Take as many pictures as you can so you have stories and memories to share with the ones you love, and for you to look back and feel how you felt in that moment. Cry your heart out. Laugh your guts silly. Be you. And remember the good times always.

Dance With Somebody

It begins with a bud and grows into a red velvet bloom with layers of language and moments of doom. A rose says a million words of an emotion we find hard to connect to. And the arrow that pierce our souls, we wonder how long until the thorns begin to bleed. Questions to find and no answers to seek. Circles of wrapping with no gifts to wear. A dark lamp shade glistens against the ceramic white shade. The curtain brings forth a sign of daylight like a white photo frame. Shall I compare thee to a Summer's Day or compare you to nothing other than what you are to me? Questions. Questioning. No answers. Not answering. You assist. Fail. You assist. Win. You assist. Fail. Smile and run away. Take one step back while taking two steps forward, unless there is no place to go. Therefore you must take those steps backwards. Watch where you begin to step, you never know what you might step on. A dying rose shattered and wintered, do nothing and walk straight past it. The bumpy carpet is now mountains and valleys filled with a lost language yet to be found again. But it tends to be mistreated and forgotten, every moment of the day...

Today's song of the day is a dedication to one of my most inspired artists of my growing years. Whitney made my highschool years just that little bit better and it actually makes me sad to know both she and Michael Jackson are now living the eternal life.
